The service department is terrible. I’m active duty military and usually have my spouse bring the car for oil changes. After the 20K mile oil change the oil light started coming on before the next oil change. By the 40K oil change the oil light was still coming on and we made an appointment and was told the engine was leaking oil and we could pay out of pocket for repairs on a car that was under warranty. Then we were informed the part needed to fix the car was on back order and they couldn’t give an estimated time but would call when the dealership had one. The service guy called and said it was a manufacturer defect and the dealership would pay to fix it. My spouse and myself took a trip to move our daughter and half way to Alabama the oil light was on and the car was leaking almost as fast as you could put it in. It took 6 of the 5 quarts oil jugs to get the car back to VA. My spouse called the dealership and was told to bring the car in and they would provide her a loaner car. My spouse took the car to the dealership and was told they didn’t have the part to fix the car and they couldn’t give her a loaner car. She was then told she could call the company and see when the part would be available to the dealership. She called and was told they couldn’t tell her anything. Our car is sitting at the dealership my spouse had to get an Uber home and still no clue when the part or car will be fixed. I have worked customer service for 30 years and this is by far the worse I have been part of. My spouse told the service department the car was leaking oil after 20K miles and was treated like she didn’t have a clue what she was talking about. This was the first Volkswagen I have owned and I will never buy another one and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this dealership to anyone in the military that deploys and spouse helps to get the oil change in the car to be treated like this way.

My Sales Rep Alli, she is so organize, know her job, very nice and very helpful. We trade my VW to Toyota and she is there with us from the beginning until the end of transaction. After the deal is done she still checkung on us if we need anything else. Keep up a hreat job Alli!!!thank you for all your help.

My experience with this dealership was great. My salesperson Sterling Washinton was above and beyond the expectation. He was extremely knowledgeable about the product, very courteous and true gentleman. He made the process very smooth and I look forward to working him in the future

Mr. Scott Cust did an excellent job with customer service. I had an awesome experience today at Checkered Flag Volkswagen. Everyone that I came in contact with was very nice. I was very excited about my purchase. Scott really went out his way to make sure I had information concerning the SUV and did great videos as well... I would highly recommend Scott Cust to anyone who is looking for a great salesperson that will guide every step of the way for a successful purchase.

Terrible experience with management and flabbergasted with their email response. I purchased a vehicle from dealership on the Saturday for full MRSP and their website had a discounted price for the same vehicle, identical VIN number. On the Monday i called the sales consultant and informed him of the price difference and was told that they would get back to me. Waited till Thursday only to be told that if I informed them sooner then they would of refunded me the difference. As a servicemen I will not support this dealership in the future or recommend them, they have really put me of the brand.

Linda is hands down the best salesperson on the east coast she was able to get me in a good reliable vehicle and helped and met all my needs. I thought I wouldn’t be able too get a vehicle but she made things work and also went above and beyond with everything. If your looking for a car your doing it wrong if you don’t at least sit down with her and let her help you out if your in the area. Makes car shopping 100x times less stressful and is respectfully upfront and honest with everything.

Yesterday did not end ad planned.... My wife and I went to Checkered Flag Volkswagen, just to see and test drive a TAOS and TIGUAN. We were met by Aali in the parking lot, who asked if she could help. And she did - above and beyond expectations. Her knowledge of the cars and her ability to answer all of our questions made us both leave with an new TIGUAN and a gut feeling, that we were heard. I can only say, that if if were not for Aali, we might have left without a car... I can only appreciate her effort and true-to-customer service. A BIG WELL DONE from us....and our daughter who now will hunt down various sushi-places in Virginia Beach...

Nick Rios is the associate to call. I’ve done business all over the world and Nick Rios’s attention to detail and customer service is world class. He helped me find the car I wanted and picked me up as I flew in to pick up the car. Beyond just being a respectful and likable person, Nicke is detailed, complete and timely with communication. I’d buy another car from Checkered or wherever Nick may work. Great experience.

I AM HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THE EPIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!! MY SALES REP WAS CARRINGTON AND SHE IS SUPER DETAILED ORIENTED, GREAT PERSONALITY, GAVE MY HUSBAND AND I MONUMENTAL STATS OF THE VOLKSWAGEN THAT I PURCHASED!! SHE COVERED EVERY DETAIL BEFORE WE EVEN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE!! I SIMPLY LOVED HER ATTITUDE AND GENUINE CARE FOR HER CUSTOMERS!! CARRINGTON ROCKS!! SHE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATION!!!

A friend bought a used car from Volkswagen Checkered Flag. Days later, the wheel fell off while he was driving. Luckily, he was in a parking lot or this would have caused serious injury or death. The issue was determined to be caused by a faulty alignment job performed by Checkered Flag before sale. Even more frustrating for him is trying to get in touch with the dealership. After calling EVERY DAY for 2 weeks, he is still yet to hear from anyone that has any authority to handle the issue. He has emailed and left countless voicemails to Lee Brooks, the GM, and Jesus Vicente-Salas, the service manager, with no response. Considering he could have died, I would expect a timely response to this issue- Checkered Flag Volkswagen has let us down. I am very disappointed in how Checkered Flag Volkswagen has handled (or rather, avoided) this issue. To any buying a car in the future- good luck getting in touch with them if you have issues/questions afterwards. Approaching a month from first contact with Checkered Flag... around the 3 week mark, Checkered Flag said they would contact the Alfa Romeo dealership fixing the car. One week later, nobody has heard from them! Ridiculous.

I had a great experience at this dealership! Linda and Ali were above and beyond helpful. I sincerely appreciated their no hassle approach. They provide me the information I needed, and gave me space to make the decision without numerous text and phone calls. They were transparent on what they were and were not allowed to do, and never fed me a line. Excellent dealership, would definitely buy there again!

Terrible customer service. My husband and I purchased a brand new Atlas 3 months ago. A day after purchasing they had to take our car away to do an upgrade they forgot about. They also had to call several times and have us return to complete paperwork they also forgot about. We were promised someone would show us how to use the features on our car and no one called us or returned our calls to set something up. I also had a $500 voucher through our works partner program and it wasn’t honored, and once again despite several phone calls, no one has called me back about it. Now, 3 months later they have the audacity to send me a letter in the mail asking for $80 for an accounting error they made. What a joke. I would not recommend them unless you like wasting your time.

She assisted me with my vehicle purchase and never got a chance to finish her food. Linda has a great personality, attitude, and good conversation. She even followed up with me to send a birthday shout out. Truly appreciate what you do. Also, I would like to give a shout out to Mike who handled my paperwork. He was able to get the transaction knocked out and take care of any follow-ups with no problems. Great attitude and demeanor. Appreciate all the GREAT customer service at the dealership!

My 2011 Volkswagen CC in for timing chain tensioner to be looked at sounds like diesel motor when warmed up they said there is nothing wrong with it and brought it to another mechanic and he told me that it has to be changed before it causes catastrophic failure

I've owned VWs, Audis, and Volvos. You'd expect the experience at the Audi and Volvo dealerships to be "better" than at VW but you haven't been to Checkered Flag. Krystl Stern and the other service writers are absolutely the best in the Hampton Roads area. I love the fact that they verify that you know the cost before they start the repairs. I'm always treated with respect and have never felt like I'm being taken advantage of. Highly recommend Checkered Flag VW.

I came in to look at the Atlas. Cristie greeted me at the door and quickly began explaining the process at Checkered Flag- it was much appreciated. Soon after, I met Daniel. She showed me Atlas- too big- and I ended up test driving the Tiguan. Cristie had extensive knowledge about each vehicle and trim level and never once hesitated with any of my questions. Her customer service was so appreciated!

Derek, my service writier bailed me out big time. Lights came on and bells started ringing and Derek worked me in with no appointment to see what the issue was. He arranged the shuttle, kept me informed throughout the day, arranged transportation back to the dealership to pick up my car and got me on my way. He ALWAYS does a great job. He's my go-to guy at Checkered Flag Volkswagen service. He just gets it done!

This is the second time I purchase a vehicle from Martene and Checkered Flag Hyundai. Martene is absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure we got the best car for our money and great customer care along the way. Martene not only made our purchasing experience smooth but also makes sure any service appointments or issues are resolved quickly and efficently with the same great customer care.
